Happy New Year and a few Reolutions

I am wishing You and Yours a Happy New Year. May this new year be better than the last.
I am up right now because I have that achy sore throat virus. I can't sleep, and Eddie is working. Its better because I would just disturb him. I think that I just wore myself down sewing over 60 hr the week before Christmas. And then I forgot to take photos of everything I made that week. My sewing room looked like a bomb went off in it as I went from project to project. It took me a whole day to clean it up and put away all the extra fabric and other supplies.  Since I have this deficit that everything has to be perfect just to mess it up again when I start another project.  Any way its all nice now and I will start another project covering some lamp shades for a chandelier I bought at the garage sale. I hope that I remember to take before and after pics.

Happy

December 29th 1972 was our wedding date. We got married while he was home on leave. Yesterday we ended our 39th year and Today we began our 40th year.
We have had our rough times like everyone, but I would not trade my high school sweetie for anything in the world. 39 yr is a long time but not nearly long enough.
I love you Eddie Forever and always no matter what!.

An Early Christmas Gift

Thank You Cat, from studiopasileycat.blogspot.com. She designed and set up button.  I love it !!!!!  do have a look at her blog
In January my blog is going to take a new and better look.  So please grab  my button and follow my blog and have faith you will love what I am planning to do.

I am always making something out of something else.

Kinda Krazy

Everything is in the mail Yeah!!  There was not even a line. wooshed in and wooshed out.
I went to get my hair cut today. I always take my hair dresser a little something every time I see her, just to let her know that she is appreciated.  My whole extended family has their hair cut by her.
I walked in and I had a carton of fresh eggs under my arm. Everyone was calling my name and talking to me. I guess it was my day to be popular.  Over at one of the nail tables was one of my sisters, then came in my daughter. the whole famdamly
was there and then Lisa my youngest sister said Lori my other sister just left.   we were all laughing about the "Mueller Girls" (our maiden name).  I went over to sit in the area that was near my hairdresser (we will call her Julie) thats her name.
Julie still had a client in the chair. I told her I had eggs and set them on her station.
After a few minutes the woman in her chair looked at me and said " how are your eggs"  I simply replied " mostly dead I assume" The whole shop laughed. It was sort of funny.  Just some girl stuff. Got to go make something out of something else....................

Another Tote Full Of Goodies

This is for Spring's partner. The picture dose not show the colors very well.
Pink And Brown

Woo Hoo almost done!!

We still have baking to do but we are pretty well on our way.  No  grandchildren this Christmas Adam has to work. The kids do have 3 weeks off so they may come up after Christmas if the weather holds up.
I am posting pictures of the Secret Santa Swap gifts that I made

Let me know what you think

A True Story As Written By Adam

"Cover your heads people!" My six year old Toby exclaimed
as we approached Walmart.

"Prepare for battle".

This was his war cry as he wrapped the top of his head
in his jacket.

"What is the problem?"  I relented as I tried to herd
our four kids all under 10 years old into the tire
and lube center.

"It's them."  He pointed skyward.  "The pigeons.
Don't scare them. Pigeons poop when you scare them.
They can't help it!"

My eight year old Aiden, was nodding in agreement.
"It's true, he's right."

Delaney my two year old added "Ew poop, Ew poop"
to anyone; family, onlookers, spectators other customers
or workers. She was a toddler sized FEMA broadcast.

The customers were obviously split into two groups in front
of me. Those who have bright, out going children, who speak
their minds and those who have the same but often hate that
they have quite so many.

Thanks to PBS kids my sons had become savants  to the pigeon
gastrointestinal process.

"Look" exclaimed Aiden as he pointed at two pigeons jockeying
for position in front of the warm air return vent high above us.

"They're mating"

"They are NOT mating" I declared while I swept my youngest
and only girl, Delaney aka Princess aka Princess-cuts-a lot
(the latter due to her prowess with a plastic sword,
often backing her older brothers in to corners
with none to playful swipes of a hard plastic blade).

Aiden was still shaking his head, as if to indicate to his
brothers how little dad really knows about pigeons and their mating habits.

In mid swoop the soda can in my hand got caught up in the
momentum and a portion flung out on to the ground and
on to my ten year old,Lucas.

"What was that?"  Lucas exclaimed, True terror iced his words.

Luke's body was frozen in fear of foreign urea.  He was checking
his dampened shirt like a soldier searching for flesh
wounds after a fire fight.

"My soda spilled a little Luke" I said.

"Oh, thank goodness, I thought it was a pigeon peeing on me."

Apparently, nothing fills a ten year old boy's nightmares
quite like the thought of pigeon urine coming in
contact with clothing and skin.

You'd be forever known as the kid who got peed
on by pigeons.

That is a story that does not easily die, that's the stuff of urban
legends and local torment.

Delaney looked at his dampened shirt and up at
her eldest brother's relieved face.
She pointed and delivered. "Eww poop"

Surprise

We had an unexpected visit from our son and his family this weekend. It was only 4 short days but it was fun. They are leaving in the morning to go back to Arizona. Our son has to work on Thursday so they have to go back. I asked him what he had to do, and he said "crime dose not take a holiday". So off they will go. We made Thanksgiving Dinner to day so we could all sit down together. I will miss them so much the quiet will be deafening. The boys have gotten taller since we saw them last and the Princess has gotten, well lets just say Princessier. Spell check just said this is not a word.  I promise you it is. For Real!!.
I haven't spent any time on projects lately but I have to get busy as soon as they are gone. Well, that is not completely true.I did get my ornament finished for the Yarnigras Enchantment  Swap. I will be mailing it out Wednesday. Thanks to Sarah who gave me inspiration. I am so Thankful for my Fabulous Daughter in law. She is the best.  It has been a great visit. I hope it won't be long until we see them again. Well time to go.  Always Making Something

Holidays Then And Now

My Sister and I were making plans for the up coming holiday, reminiscing about when we were younger.  Doing so we realized just how lax we have been.
In the good old days  we wore our Sunday cloths to Thanksgiving Dinner at our grandparents home. Grandma set the table with a beautiful linen table cloth and matching napkins that she brought with her from Germany. She then got out the China and real silverware also from the old country. My dad and uncles would go up stairs to get all of  four leaves of the Duncan Fief table and the extra chairs.
The Table was stunning. Me, my sisters, and my cousins would just look at how beautiful everything was. All of the daughter in laws were in the kitchen helping with the plating of the serving dishes. There were 20 of us at the table. 12 very well behaved grandchildren, because we knew our parents would not tolerate it.
More over our Grandfather would not put up with any shenanigans period. We had ultimate respect for our grandparents and we loved them.
After dinner while all the moms cleared the table and did dishes (before dishwashers) they put the dishes back into the china cabinet very carefully.
Grandpa put on the German records on his beautiful Stereo. He kept his Vinyl and his stereo as pristine as the china and silver.  The furniture in the special living room was gorgeous, The couch was White Brocade, a Red chair with 3 inch bullion all across the bottom, walnut end and coffee tables wth glass over the top of them. In the corner was a walnut corner table and on ether side were 2 Grey leather chairs with nail heads a round the edges.  All of it was covered in PLASTIC!!!! of course that was the norm back then. Oh wait I almost forgot. Under the coffee table was a White Calf skin that grandma had stuffed the head with news paper and put 2 blue marbles for the eyes, all of the grand kids loved that calf skin. We would sit and pet it for hours. It was a holiday and we got to be in the special living room listing to German Music some of it was marches some was beer drinking music and we sang along in German.
So this year we are going back to the old traditions, we are dressing up decking the table and everyone will get a cleanup assignment. We don't have the German Music but we do have old movies that we all love.  MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS,
GOOD SAM, YOU'VE GOT MAIL, and a deck of cards. I am looking forward to it. The Good Old Days YEAH!!!

What A Game!!!

St. Louis What a Series AND What a Game !!!! Makes me miss home.

Thursday, October 27, 2011

Thursday Night

We had it all planned. We were going to be alone, watch the World Series (what a game to the edge of my seat I was.) Eddie decided he wanted a treat, so he went to get ice cream. While he was gone the doorbell rang. It was Spencer my nephew, he needed help with his chemistry. I love Spence but COME ON. I guess he though since Eddie has a degree in Chem Eng he could do it for him Oh I mean help him.
Soooooo I went upstairs to my sewing room to finish a project and watch the game.
Spencer left a happy man. Home work all done.  I don't know who did it.  It's better that way.
Any way,    All Ways Making Something........................................

Dear Daddy

It has been 18 years since you were called home. It seems like it was yesterday and a million years ago too.  I miss your smile and your gentle nature, you never said a bad word about or to anyone. Remember when we were little and played upstairs making a lot of noise, you were sitting in your chair and reading the paper. Every once in a while you would shout out " Quiet down I'm coming up there" then you stomped your feet in a sitting position and we would laugh.  We knew you weren't coming after us. We loved it.  Baseball and BBQ chicken on Sundays. That's how we learned  how the game was played.  I miss you every day.  I love you Daddy.
Till we meet again.

Decor

I have been having so much fun decorating for HALLOWEEN. Its all over the house but the Porch is what has given me the most joy.  In the picture includes an old screen window, antique metal kitchen step chair, grapevine wreath from my back yard, metal star, goose gourd, lg pumpkin, sm pumpkin, leaf garland, and the BOO made from a DI picture find. I had a great time putting this together.
Still finishing up Swap projects

The Game

Well What can I say, The Cards threw the game away.  You can take the girl out of St. Louis but you can't take the St. Louis out of the girl.
Gus's Pretzels,  Soulard Market and Vess Soda.  These are a few of my favorite things.
Great Dinner Spring Rolls and Asian Salad but then there was dessert lemon bars and bread pudding.   Thank You Lori You are a great COOK!!!!!!!!

What a Fun Week

I really do not care for the Baseball season. It creates to much anxiety, But when my Home Town Team is in the Play Offs and then the World Series I'm watching.  All last week end and through the week my sister and brother in law have come over to watch the games. The first night we had Stadium Food.  Hot dogs, Nachos, Soft Pretzels. NO BEER we don't drink and Eddie made some KILLER brownies. The Pop Corn had to wait for another night and no Peanuts.  All in all it was a great evening.  And so have the rest of the games been fun.  It was a great game, even though it was in Texas.  Yeah, St Louis is my Home Town!! we lived there 45 years raised the children there. St Louis is a Baseball Town.  When I see the sky line of the city it makes me home sick a little.  I would not want to take on the humidity any more though.
I almost have all my projects done for the Swaps. I don't think I will take on three at a time again.  I like to be very liner but with three at a time I found myself  going Global.
I will post pictures soon.  Remember " All Ways Making Something"

Table Runner Swap

I have been working on the Table Runner for my partner in the swap at Shawnees Flirty Apron Swap.  It a fun and different swap all though I love Aprons, this will be fun.  However I am not a Quilter! I have been sewing for 40 years and never attempted a Quilt.  So I have come up with a different idea for my table Runner. I am using a different medium. It is working well or so far so good anyway. My family think I am a genius. ( I trained them that way ) In a day or two I will post some sneek peeks.
Till then........... Always making something.

A FEW THINGS

I love reading all the blogs. They inspire me. I have actually had some changes come over me from all of your inspiration. I had given up on holidays after the kids grew up and left I did not even attempt holidays. Our grandchildren live in Yuma so most of the time  they were not around. The holiday thing goes back many years and to explain it I would need a Psychotherapist present.  My house is now decorated  for Halloween.  To night my husband said to me that he was so happy to see that I was getting into the spirit of things.  So thank all of you for the inspiration, and my house is so darling.

I loved this Swap, because You were paired with a partner that you got to contact and swap with each other. I now have a new friend that made me a FABULOUS APRON.  We found that we had a lot in common so we are going to be email pals and share sewing ideas. I am looking forward to getting to know her better. Have a look at my Apron and see what a creative seamstress she is.  The Picture does not  do the colors in this lovely Apron Justus.  Enjoy !!  Till next time...........

HEY YOU LADIES New Swap

New swap over at The Apronista Flirty Apron Swap. This time there is a TWIST.
Its a Table Runner,  How fun is this?  Way fun I say.  I can not wait.  Hurry on over and sign up. Swaps are so much fun and you get to meet great people.  YEAH !!

Super Simple Center Piece

This was just a spur of the moment  Center Piece for my dinning room table.
Since I am not a fan of Holidays, this is pretty good for me!  Reading all of the crafty blogs is starting to move me in to decorating a little.
All this is a cute little battery operated candle I picked up at Rod works for $3.00 and a string of fall leaves from the Dollar Store. I put it on a stand that I made out of a candle stick and a metal decorative plate OH and some glue. I will be able to change it for the next season.  This might seem silly, but for me it is a big step. I can decorate my house very well. It's just the holiday thing.
Very busy weekend unloading the POD finally.  It seems we stored a bunch of junk for the last 9 months.  Why was that garbage so important? The only thing we can figure is we were in a hurry to make room for Sarah and the kids.
Any way all clean and 1 dump run and 1 DI run.  TAH DAH finished. So note to self " don't store CRAP!!!"
Till next time................................

Gooey Butter Cake

I may or may not have mentioned that my family is German.  My German Grandma was from Bremen Germany. She grew up on a farm in the area of Lagerfeld. She came to this Country when she was 17 in 1920 as an indentured servant. She worked for a family that paid for her to come over here as a Nanny and cook. And she could cook. One of my favorite treats was when she made Gooey Butter Cake. It is so yummy and rich and she made it from scratch the best ever.   So I thought I would share it with you. This is adapted from the original Scratch yellow hot milk cake.

Gooey Butter Cake
1 yellow cake mix
1 stick butter
1 egg

Mix together cake mix  (just the mix no other ingredients on the box)
With butter and egg  Spread into an ungreased  9X13 pan
Next:  Cream together 1 8oz pkg  cream cheese soft
            2 eggs
            1# powdered sugar
             1tsp vanilla
Cream together and spread over cake mixture, make sure it is spread to the edges.
Bake at 350* for 35- 40 min Yummy good!!

The CIrcus Came to Town

Lori and I were driving down I-15 yesterday going to Centerville Ut. It is only about 20 min from where we live.  Of course we were talking and laughing.  I looked over and Saw the Train, The  circus train. It was only for the Circus. On the side It said  Ringling Brothers and Barnum Baily. There were 40 cars the Animals were in the the last 4 cars, some other cars had equipment some flatbeds with cars trucks and 4 wheelers. Several dinning cars and the rest Sleepers. It was not going very fast. I am sure because it was pulling into Salt Lake Station. There were people on the end of each car waving to the people on the highway. The tracks run right along the highway so we had a great view.  It was like we were 6 yr old ( well she was 6, I would have been 14 and probably
thinking this was lame, and mad because I would have to take her). OK that was a blast from the past. Any we were still a little giddy, Lori looked at me and said " do you want to go?"  and at the same time we said NAHH. We didn't even want to take the grand kids. Well the only one here is her grandson and thank goodness his mom and dad were already taking him. "That was a close one shoooo! But it was fun for a minute. And Only a minute. For a couple of moments two women in their 50's were 2 little girls again.  Till Next Time...................

Monday, Monday .........................

Monday, a beautiful one at that.  Sunny, light breeze, my Hens are clucking and I am waiting on the porch for my sister Lori. She is a little late ( most of the time) but that's ok. That is one of the things that makes her Lori. She is quit a lovely person, inside and out.  She got the looks in the family. Today we are going to the Hematology Clinic. Mostly people come there to get Chemo. Thank Heavenly Father  that is NOT why we are going for treatment of cancer. Lori has to have an Iron infusion,  and this is where they do it.  It was rather quiet in there today not to many patients. I would say that is a good thing. She wanted me to come along for I think entertainment.  It takes about an hour and a half . So I love spending time with her and of course I went.
Here's the good part. We are reading the same book so I brought my Kindle, and she brought her Nook. Once they got her hooked up and the Iron flowing.  We started reading and laughing  and laughing and laughing. I have to say the book is Hilarius to say the least we both identify with the character. We were laughing so hard that other people started laughing everyone wanted to know what we were reading. It was a great 90 min. To lighten some one and take them to another place
for a little while.   Till next time...........................

Here are the Jammies. I was able get pictures before they left to go back to Arizona.  The boys were moving to fast to get there cute Jams on here they would have been a a blur. No time to make the tops, so we opted for T shirts except for the Diva her mommy will finish her top. I like sending them off with something from Grammie.  It's so fun to make things for the kids.  Oh by the way look close a Sarahs see the Poodles????.

Crystal Lamp

I found this Lovely Lamp at a Cute Shabby Chic store I frequent in Salt Lake City.
I fell in Love with it had to have. I tried it in our bed room but it just didn't work.
I had it in the Family Room, both of my sisters said it did not work with the leather.
Maybe it did not have the right shade, I was at the DI last week and found this Fabulous Lamp Shade $2.00 who knows this might have been the original lamp shade. So this Fab Find totaled $20. for lamp and $2.00 for the shade. Not bad for a crystal lamp that looks great in my Sewing Room

Saterday I don't Like This

It is amazing the laundry that can accumulate when you have company. We must have 40 bath towels and every single one was used while the family was here. Not to mention blankets. Everyone has a special "covie" that they bring with them and a special one a Grammie and PaPa's house. Really I  don't mind. The problem is that the laundry room in the new house is on the lower level off the family room so when I go down to do laundry I have to stay down. Running the steps is just to much for me. It will be fine once we get the boxes out of the family room and have the storage pod delivered with the rest of our furniture in it.  I know that it is not going to work down here  but.. I have to prove it to Eddie before I can go to get something different. I think you all know what I mean ? right?.
Why did we buy a Tri Level house?. Eddie has bad knees and I have the fibro and LB steno sis.  It is crazy I know but this house is so us. So I shall spend my day in the laundry room with my 3#Diva and my giant poodle they are great company.
Till next time.....................

Quiet In The House

It is Quiet here again, and that is ok. We were worn out.  The kids where so good but very busy.  Laney went through all my shoes clopping around the house falling down the steps twice in less than an hour. Calling for her PaPa who came to her rescue her and cleaned up her bloody lip.
Sarah unloaded and reloaded and went through and repacked. Because of the exertion she put herself through she has trouble with her blood sugar Type1 Diabetic. When Eddie got up to go to work at 4:30 the next morning Sarah was passed out and had been for a while so at this point there is nothing to do but call 911. Now we have been on first name basis with most of the responders for some time. First Jake our youngest who has a brain injury and seizure disorder until he got his VNS and every time Sarah is here. She is a very brittle diabetic. Any way we had to call  and when the guys walked in they said " Oh good  Sarah is back"  so in they come start IV give the meds  she comes around they clean up and off they go all 10 of them each one better looking than the other.
We have excepted for some time now that being the neighborhood entertainment is some how our calling, and having lived in the new  house only 3 months we don't really know all of the neighbors amd no one has asked any questions yet. So we are a mystery to most. I would prefer  it that way.
I got lots of sewing done all six of them got new jammies to take home. Laney got a new fleece poodle covie she needed it her other one was beyond help. Lucas watched movies on the Ipad in the sewing room with me. Aiden and Tobias spent most of the time on the Wi and I think jumping on Springs bed. We giggled while making Zombie Dolls for another Swap even my sister Lori got in on that one with us.  It was a nice visit.  Till next time.................

Suprise!!!!!

We were LUCKY. This weekend to have a short unexpected visit form our daughter in law and the children. We have had the best time. Laughing and making Zombie Dolls for another swap. The weather is great, and a cool down from Yuma *118 in  the shade. We got together the things they left behind and packed the trailer for the trip home. The only down side PaPa had to work. Bummer for the boys. They got to play outside, something they can't do in the HEAT so they were in Heaven.
Having so much to do Sarah has decided to stay another day. This makes me so happy because I don't want her to be overly tired when they leave.
I have been sewing all day, making everyone jammies.  The boys have picked out their fabric and everyone is happy with the choice. Aiden picked 2 different fabrics that surprisingly went quite well together.  He is my little designer.
I also made a daddy apron and a little boy apron for my nephew and his little boy.
Sew busy this weekend.
Till next time......................................

Good Old Days

While my Hubby was off this week, he suggested we have a date. He picked a restaurant that we both like and off we went. I was really looking forward to the time alone with him since my 17yr old nephew had been staying with us all week while my sister and brother in law went on a business/vacation to California. (LUCKY).
We were seated at the restaurant It was a bit early (LIKE 4:00 PM) we placed our order. Another Older, Older couple came in and was seated across the isle from us.
We got our appetizer and were eating when all of a sudden we hear " How old do you think I am sonny?". My husband turned around and then looked back at me. My Q I guess to handle the question. So I answeres the elderly gentelman .  I knew better but I said " Oh about 60" he laughed and said sternly " No Mam, I am 91 and I spent 41 years in the Army. My wife died last year and we were married 65 years."  I was stunned for a moment thinking that I hope we would have that much time together too. Then the gentleman proceeded to tell us his life story. we ate and listened as he brought tears to my eyes and chocked my husband up several times. His final announcement to us was he had worked in the Temple for the last 15 years and now was just waiting to go home because the love of his life was there waiting for him.  We could barely contain ourselves. He said to us "Thank You for listening" and turned to eat his dinner.  We just sat there for a moment looking at each other.  We stood to leave and Eddie walked over and shook the old mans hand. His daughter shook her head and mouthed to me "I'm sorry"  Eddie turned to her and said "No it was our pleasure". We left and sat in  the car for a what seemed like a long time.  Then Eddie finally spoke and said " I am sorry we did not get to be alone"  I replied " This is the best date we have had in long time"  to which he said "I was hoping you would think so".

What a blessing we have to still have each other with the HOPE of many more years to come.                  Till next time...............................................................

Purging

My sweet little new neighbor Melissa, offered to help me organize my sewing room.
Eddie and I have been working on it and it is usable, but not all the way put together.  I purged over a 100 decorating and woman's magazines Only keeping the best of the best. Mary Jane's Farm, (love this magazine it is great), Flea Market, 100 Decorating Ideas, Country Home, really great magazines that have such lovely ideas. It really felt great to go through and purge.
Something I really like is my Make A Mix and More Make a Mix Cookery. There are such fabulous time saving and more over money saving recipes that you can make up and use over a period of 6 months. I love that kind of stuff.  Well progress feels Great!! Till Next Time..................

Sister Rantings

I have two sisters, they are younger than me by almost eight years. Did I mention they are twins?.  They are not identical they really do not even look like sisters. The worst part is they don't even like each other, so there I am the in the middle.

They have a lot of issues growing up as twins because they are so physically different. Don't get me wrong they are both beautiful. They are built different and hair color different and even though they both are brown eyed #1 Twin has light brown hair, Golden Brown eyes, Twin #2 has Dark, Dark hair and dark, dark eyes. I on the other hand am a red head freckled and I have very blue eyes. All three of us together, you would never guess we were related. Any way the point of all this is they both think I can magically whip up any thing on the sewing machine. AND they think I can wave a magic wand and poof it is done.  Well, I may have stated this before,  my magic WAND is so far up some where I will never see it again. Never Again.
To further the reason why I am writing this blog. Twin #1 is going on a business trip with her husband to California on Friday, not next Friday, this coming Friday
and she needs a robe.  I asked her why didn't she ask me last week she said she did.  I don't remember but I was so sick last week with what I thought was a Fibro Flare, that turned out to be Toxicity from a medication I was on. That I need but has to be adjusted and I can't see the doctor until September.  This puts a lot of pressure on me.  So I will sew because I love her. She always does what she can for me. I will do it and she will love it.  After I finish the Apron that my other sister asked me to make for her to give someone. Am I Crazy?  Till next time.......

Hot Mama Apron Swap

I had the Apron for my Partner all done and ready to go. It is being delivered by SPECIAL DELIVERY tonight can't wait until she gets it.
I was feeling awful yesterday, I had a Fibro Flare up.  Since My Hubby is working nights I put my self on the chase in the family room.  I have not had one quite this bad in a couple months.  I herd the door bell. I could not even get up to answer the door I felt so awful.  So when Eddie got up he went to the front door and there was a package waiting for me.  I still felt so bad I could not even open the box, so my sweetie got out his pocket knife and it was open.  He sat on the chase next to me and started to get the beautiful PurPle packages out So I sat up we opened them together one by one. I started to feel better just seeing how thoughtful my partner was. My husband so taken with all of the lovely things.  So for the finally I opened the Apron Oh How Beautiful and What wonderful Suprise !!! The Apron is Fabulous and she put a Poodle applique on it.  I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it. Thank You Amy W. I was feeling a bit better.  So we took pictures and posted them.  My Eddie is so taken by the wonderfully talented women that take part in these swaps.
He told his friends at the hospital all about as he calls it ART and he is correct it is art.  So ladies the staff at the U of U love the Aprons.  Till next time.....................

Lunch With My Daughter

Yesterday I went out to lunch with my only daughter.  She lives with us so we try to do something fun on Saturdays. So we drove down to Salt Lake and the she had an appointment she needed to attend in Ogden.  Talk about one end of the earth to the other.  After her appointment we went to lunch.  In the line in front of us was a   young man possibly in the range of 22 to 25 yr .  He was neat and clean and very polite. But you could tell he has a brain injury. His movements were a little jerky his head hung a little to one side and his speech demonstrated it too. He had a little trouble swiping his debit card so the sweet girl at the counter offered to help him and he kindly let her. He got his food and went to sit with his friend who looked to have some sort of an injury. They were talking and laughing and every once in a while one of them would say OORAH! and then one of them would say MUSCLE THROUGH IT SOLIDER. It was clear what the problem was. They were both combat Marines injured in Iraq. They were talking about combat they had been in.
I could hardly keep back the tears. You wonder what they had seen and how they were injured. I wondered too if they were getting the help they needed and deserved.
It concerned me so much because our son to was in Iraq during the push North.  We have heard nothing of what happened to him or what he saw. Some funny things.  He was in Special Forces. Psyop Unit. He came home with a case of PTSD and has meds for it and dose not sleep much. But dose well with his job.
Anyway, please remember our Military pray for all of them.
Till next time.........................

Positive Progression

There is beauty all around.  I am by no means done, but things are looking up in the sewing room.  Since I can not carry any thing, it is hard to do things in a timely manner.  As you all know when you start to organize, it gets worse. There is a light at the end of the tunnel
During the progression, my friend had a little fun.
Maybe we should all take a little time out of a messy situation to enjoy something.
Till next time.......................

My Country Tis Of Thee

Happy 4th of July!.  Our Family is very patriotic. We are all Military. USAF, ARMY.  When our son who is 33 now was in high school he went to a Magnet school. It was run by the Navy, they wore full uniforms everyday, had formation each morning, earned rank, and became leaders. The whole Military experience.
At the end of each year they had " PASS AND REVUE". An Admiral would come up from Florida to view the troops as they passed the Grand Stand.  It was a wonderful experience. As the flag passed everyone would stand the troops would turn their heads and sharply salute the Admiral.  As each year went by It was something everyone looked forward to.  In his Senior Year Pass and Revue, the crowd was a bit unruly a little rude even. The troops began to pass and when each platoon passed with their Flag and the American Flag only a few people stood up with their hands over their harts. It was really annoying me. Then the Honor Guard began to pass the Grand Stand still only a few. I could not take it any more.
I got on top of the riser bench seat and Yelled at the Top of my Voice as Loud as I could "STAND UP, STAND UP THE FLAG OF YOUR COUNTRY IS PASSING!!!!   The crowd was as surprised, as was I. Everyone got to their feet and woman turned to me and said I did not know we were supposed to. I was horrified that the respect for the flag and our country was so un important to some.
I just looked in her eyes and softly said "Your an American aren't you". Thank goodness it was his senior year I just knew I was going to get a good talking to.
When everything was over and we were re united with our son, he came up to me and said thanks mom I am so proud of you for standing up for our flag.
After high school he went to college, and  to the Army Resvers where he spent 1yr in  in Bosnia and then in Iraq for 14 mo. Now today he is a federal Agent.
Still loving and serving our country.
GOD BLESS OUR COUNTRY AND THOSR THAT KEEP US FREE.
enjoy the holiday and your freedom. Till next time.....................

ANOTHER HOT MAMA APRON SWAP !!!!!!!!

I am so excited I have another Apron Swap.  I need to make 2 Aprons in the 3 weeks that is so much fun.  I still have to get my Sewing Room in order. There are still 30 boxes in the Family Room to go through and at least half are for the Sewing Room.  See my mess. Any suggestions?? Sooo  you can see what I am up against. I really do not have a clue where to start.  Not only do I have to make the greatest Aprons for 2 fabulous new friends, I also need to make shower curtain, Bedroom curtains, Sewing room curtains, family room and front room. All before I have surgery.  I can do some pretty crazy things. I will do this , yes I can.  After all I have a few life badges under my belt. AND I Am A RED HEAD. That counts for fortitude.  SOOOOO till next time?

Oh yah Another Apron Swap

I love Aprons so much!!  Another Flirty Apron Swap. This theme is  ALOHA Apron Swap 2011.
I went shopping for FABRIC, it was so much fun. The deals I got were great, I bought more than I needed. Oh well!  I love vintage fabric. I don't like it from the 60's or 70's. Already been there done that.  Shabby Chic is more my style. I found some really cute fabric.  I don't have my partner yet but I am sure anyone will like a hand made Apron.

This last week has been strange, really strange.  Mon,Tue, and Wed I spent most of each day in bed so dizzy and upset stomach from being dizzy.  I could barely walk to the bathroom.  I have had this before.  A nasty Fibro Flare. Then fine felt so much better and I was thankful. Eddie said the hospital was crazy weird too. Then this morning we woke up a little warm, no AC, lights, fans, internet. Some one partied to hard and took out a transformer and three townships had no power for 4 hours. We were lucky. Many people do not have anything. I will gladly give up a few hours of convenience.

Please pray for the people in desperate situations. It is flooding every where. Not just here in Utah, but in Minot North Dakota too.  We lived in Minot for 9 years and still have many friends there. The house in town we lived in is gone, only the roof can be seen.  My best friend in Sawyer ND just a mile or two west of Minot lost their farm, it has been in her family 120 years.  The river ran right through the property near all of the buildings. Its as big a mess as Joplin Mo. We are from Missouri and have many friends and family there too.  So much devastation all over the country, the world. AND our Troops are still being deployed!.  I know that we are helping the WORLD !! Who is helping those in this country that have lost everything?

Please dear friends Pray, Pray for all who are in need.  Heavenly Father hears our prayers.

Oh and Minot Flooded because our good friend in Saskatchewan CANADA, opened their flood gates and did not tell ND till there was only 5 HOURS NOTICE for evacuation. Thank You Canada, you burn down one of your own cities because you did not win, You open the flood gates because YOU did not want to get WET. STOMP YOUR FEET CANADA HAVE A TANTRUM.  So Lets say it all together.  BEHAVIOR DISORDER !!!!!!!!!

Till next time ..................

DUSTING MY SELF OFF, ON TO SEWING

My intention today was to stay in bed. I wanted to feel sorry for myself, I am very good at this. If anyone needs any pointers I am available.  The fact of the matter is I am over whelmed with my sewing room. I have a thousand yards of fabric. I want to waive my FAIRY WAND, (it is so far up somewhere I cannot retrieve it any longer.) So that's out. And to make things worse I can't even turn the TV on, I am under Dr's order to lift nothing over 2#, due to pending back surgery.  Reading this I am Pathetic. As the maid in MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS said.  "A CABBAGE HAS A CABBAGE SMELL"  In other words  BUCK UP SISTER!!!!!.
Of course that dose not solve my problem. Really no one can do this but me.  So wish me LUCK I am off to Walmart to buy some Clear Plastic containers to sort my BELOVED FABRIC. Which is so like Christmas, I am feeling better already.
So off I go.   Till next time ................

Alone

Now that every thing has calmed down, It is oh to quite here.
Today is the first day I have been alone in the new house, well not really I have my puppy friends. Who right now are all perched around me on the dinning room floor.
My husband has called me twice since he left for work. I am sure he is delighted to be gone. He is one of the hardest unrelenting working souls ever. He has unpacked and unpacked and there still are boxes in the family room. We still haven't found all the horse tack that we wanted to sell since we sold the horses a month ago.
The chickens are loving their new area. It is much bigger. However, they are sleeping in a LARGE BOX and a LARGE DOG CRATE until we get the new chicken coop built. This is suburbia friends. We have not live in a subdivision in 25yr.  Our house is on the corner so at least I don't feel so cooped up. (no pun intended). Utah, being the friendly folk they are?.  Allow you to have a few chickens in your yard as long as they are hens.
I am looking forward to the new Ward. We have been LDS almost 40 years.  OUTSIDE of Utah This makes a huge difference we found. Unfortunately  not always favorable experience.  I have Hope . The Bishop and The Relief Society have visited in the first few days we were here. They were all so pleasant and I am looking forward to this Sunday.
I have so much to do, so much decorating. The sewing room is first. I have to get it all set up so I can make a shower curtain for the bathroom then it will be done and I can post pictures.
When Spring gets home we are going to look at Dinning Tables. I have not been able to find on that has the sort of kind of chairs I want. So we are just going to get some ideas.
Well Friends, Its time for me to do something before Spring gets here. I had no idea how much I would miss my four grand children, no idea at all.
Till next time...............................

Empty Space in Our House

Our Grand Babies are gone . They are off to Missouri to visit there other Grandmother. And attend the wedding of our son's best friend. They served in Iraq together.  Any way they are gone lock, stock and barrel.  After Missouri on to Arizona. Where they will live for a while until they move our son again.
I am so sad that Sarah participated in the Flirty Apron Swap and made a beautiful Apron and darling tuck ins to go along with it. The woman she was partnered with did not do her job by making her  an apron  and tuck ins. So she never received any thing at all. I got mine, but Sarah never got hers, and she was so looking forward to it. The partner said she sent it but could not provide any info on it. Such a disappointment.

Now to the decorating.  Tomorrow my baby sister Lisa is coming to paint our bath room.  She is a good painter and dose not have a back issue like I do.  We are painting it Vineyard. I saw some lovely purple and white duk fabric I will make a shower curtain and a curtain for the open shelves  behind the door, replacing the mirror with one that I already have which I will paint white. I will post before and after pictures and you can tell me what you think.  Till next time.................

It's Almost Over

Hi friends,
We are in our new house finally. Boxes everywhere and a lot of things we can't use now in this house. AND we still have a pod of furniture that we have no room for. All of my lovely furniture from my formal front room now has to go. In the words of Scarlet O'Hara,  " I can't think about it anymore, I'll think about it tomorrow". Or something like that.  Till next time...................

Feeling Lucky?

Today instead of packing, we had a few errands to do. I asked Eddie to drop me at Savers Thrift while he went to fax something. So he did. The color today was green.
All of the tags that were green were .99 so I started searching. I found 2 pink large Minky Blankets for Laney, 3 packages of 10 ea kids hangers, cabinet hardware (10 pc) in the package, 4 dish towel in pack, a princess nightie sz 4T and two pair of summer shoes for my self. Now the shoes were only half off 3.50 ea. The best part is they are brand new. One pair of BORN the other GLORIA VANDERBILT. They fit perfect and I love them.
Only have 10 more days until we move.  We have more stuff than we need, way more furniture than we need too. My daughter, sisters, and daughter in law all say less is more. But what less do I place in a new home?
Till next time.................

I Got My Apron And I Love it.

The Flirty Apron Swap:  My Apron came It is beautiful. You have to visit my new friend Cynthia's blog, "PuddinDreamsnapronseams.blogspot.com and her Etsy Shop
Puddin Tanes Shop.  You will see some of the most beautiful and unique Aprons. Do your self a favor and make a visit. I am so honored to own one.

You remember the "Home Is A Bit Of Heaven"  THING ?....   Well the latest saga.
We should have been moved into our NEW HOUSE.  Two Days before closing the seller pulled out.  OK it wasn't to be. I truly believe in divine intervention. It wasn't in the plan.  We are good with that.  So on the hunt we went.
Now we have been married almost 39 years and rarely Have I been told no. So when I am told no I need to listen. As the house hunt went It was no, no, and again no. I thought we would never find a house. I thought I was going to be crazy. There is way more to the story than what has been written here.
The fact is the search is over, and after 43 houses we found one.  Keeping my fingers crossed.  Till next time.................

Happy Home Contd.

So where was I?  Oh yes. He is on the phone with us and he said I can see your lights keep  on coming your in the right direction. At this point we finally start to get a little worried, the closer we got the scarier he got and we were getting there.
We pulled into this what should have been a circle drive but suddenly stopped.
AND we had seen a man standing in the darkened huge arched Joan of Arc  doors.  Then he was gone.  We got out of the car and For Real all that was missing was the MOTE!!!!!!! I am not kidding.  There were huge stained glass windows of  scary angels in creepy dark red blood like colors with very erry light behind each one. These windows stood at least 10 feet tall and the Angels glared out over the motless barren desert of darkness.  Even though we knew we should leave, we started down (FOR REAL) cobble stone  walk way.  Suddenly it ended.
Sarah looked at me and she stopped " What if he is in there right now laying out his scalpels right now?"  "I have my phone in my pocket open and dialed to 911" I said.  " do you really think you can run up these paver stones if you have to?"  she said. With that a coyote  amazingly appeared (FOR REAL)  Sarah grabbed me and we turned and ran up the stone way, jumped into the car locked the doors and ........ sat there. We turned on the car and HIT THE GAS and blew rocks out the back end.  We drove and drove fast and furious to the first stop sign that was lit. Sarah slammed on the breaks and just sat there. She looked over at me and said" If there was a really hot tall dark Vampire in there and I missed it, I am going to be P****D!!!!!!!! ( Her book club is called "Books That Bite").  " I think it was more like a Were Wolf." We called our hubbies for some consoling and only got yelled at instead.  Lesson learned.   AND that's how I lost my cell phone.
I hope it was worth your wait.   Till next time...............

Home: A Happy Home Is A Glimpse of Heaven

Or So the saying on the wall goes.... Really?.  I'll get into that later.

Flirty Apron Swap is made and mailed. It turned out so cute!!! I hope my partner likes it. I always say that I am going to make one for myself. I never do. I give whatever I make away.  That feels good. I will post pictures when my daughter in law gets back. They are on her phone.

The last month has been.... let's say crazy no no.... unfortunate no...  unreal........
I can't find the exact words I want but you get the idea, right?

So I'll start here:  We have a local news station here that provides on line classifieds.  Very very popular, more so than Craigs list is here any way.
I always look through the free section, being the bargain and do over find and refurb person that I am.  Behold!! there was a gentleman in a town that was west of here about forty five miles.  He had Canvas Paintings for free. A few were displayed in the ad. I had been looking for old canvas paintings here and there for a project I had in mind.  Perfect what a find right? . So the plans were made and directions( sort of but we had a GPS) given to us by the Gentleman. He would hold them until his day off on Wednesday EVENING.
This was going to be fun I THOUGHT.  Eddie had to work, so Sarah and I were going to drive and pick up the pictures. The kids would be in bed and Spring would be home preparing her lessons for the next day. Everything was just FALLING into place.
Off we go 8:30 pm talking  brave and all laughing, laughing ,ha ha ha what an adventure this was going to be, after all we have done this kind of thing lots.
Stopping to fuel up on Diet Coke for the drive, energy and what ever else it could do for us.  We hit the highway it wasen't very long until we got to the exit. Really that is when the fun began.  The usual you know,  Right turn take the second left go to the top of the hill. He could not remember the name of the street into his subdivision but it was about 7 miles and it is a dark subdivision there are no street lights. Oh, and his house is the one on the right that looks like a MID - EVIL CASTLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.  No, now we are not a fry short of a Happy Meal. We are the few trusting women that have not learned a lesson yet.  We were about to. Oh and most of these directions were by phone after the wrong ones were given.
The best part is yet to come...........  Till Next Time.
Sorry I have to go to a coupon class.

I love aprons

I love Aprons, I always have worn an apron. When my daughter in law saw my aprons she started wearing one also.  She is working on hers for the Flirty Apron Swap right now.  Mine is cut out and ready to sew tomorrow.  Swaps are so much fun. We will post pictures of the Aprons soon.
I hope to do many more.
I love to see other things my fabric sisters sew. Share your creations.

We found a house.

We found a house. I am so excited after 30 houses we finally agreed on one.  Usually Eddie isn't so hard as in what I want of course.  This house is closer to the freeway and will cut down on his travel time back and forth to the U of U.  A sigh of relief now for the hardest part. Packing!!!! and putting away. Thank goodness Sarah and Spring will be able to help.

Going to post pics of cute stuff later.

Wooooooooooooshhhhh !!

I can't believe that it has been almost two months since I have written on my blog.  It has been a crazy, wild, happy and frustrating all at the same time.
Having 4 children in the house is a challenge and its not like going to Gram and Papa's for vacation or holiday.  They are here and living every day, going to school, doing homework, playing on soccer teams and dealing with the absence of daddy.  Even though they can talk to him on the phone, and see him on Skype, its not the same.   So for some reason things aren't going the way I thought they would. IMAGEN THAT!
I don't get it but after all I am the mother in law. We were like best friends.  My Husband says we are ALPHA FEMALES trying to claim the same territory.  Is this a nice way to say we are BITCHES ??.
I dont know but I want rules for the kids and she dose NOT.  We have had a few run ins, one really bad.  Of course that was the weekend we went to three different ER's 2 resulting in hospital stays. One with 13 stitches.  That was me.
I need advise what do I do???
Tomorrow I sew I have sooooooo many things that are backed up also I will be posting pictures of stuff.

If I don't stroke out.  Till next time................................

Homeward Bound!!!! Yeah

Every thing takes longer than you think.  Always.  But it's all together and we are ready to go.  Things have changed, I am driving home with the whole family. Not flying. At least I will be home.  I haven't been much help.  Except taking care of the Princess.
I now have the head virus all of them have had.  I am so tired that I can't think and I hurt every where.
If I could stay in bed I would. But I want to go home.  when I get there I may stay in bed for a week.
I miss my little dogs and my big Poodle very much too.
On the bright side,  We did get to eat at Steak And Shake.  Our Favorite. Yumm  We don't have them in Utah.

Until next time I will be home by then

OH MY WHAT A MESS

Well we have emptied my sewing room.  Really I can take no credit for it at all.  My sweet husband worked very hard on his days off along with my sweet friend Raeleen she is also the Relief Society President.   We are friends, And my daughter who I don't know what I would do with out.
and neighbors too.
You have no idea how stuff you have.  My beautiful Formal living room all the furniture  is in a storage pod.  I thought I loved change I am not so sure any more.  I will have to wait until Sarah gets here to get it all organized.
On another note we found triple bunk bed for the boys room.  They are so excited about it.  And for the Princess a toddler bed and I have a beautiful day bed for Sarah so beds are taken care of.
I have loaded the house with food.  I was going over our receipts and shockingly I have spent well over a thousand dollars. But we are very well stocked.  We bought Spring and Jake an Apple laptop for Christmas,  we send money to the Texas K's  so we decided to buy Adam a computer before he leaves for his assignment.   I am trying to find what he wants.  Eddie wants to get it from the University where he works, Adam wants to get it off of Amazon I think the U wins.
The Stress of all of this is really taking a tole on me.  My anxiety is off the charts and pain is about an 8, and all I do is sit in a DAM chair and support my dear sweet hubby it is the worst feeling to watch him work and I can't do a darn thing.    Well when Sarah gets here we will be able to sew and creat some lovely things.  So please keep following the best is yet to come.

Moving Stuff Around

I love change.  While moving the rooms around I needed to pack up two book cases of books. I love books so much that I can't go to the Library to borrow a book.  I HAVE TO OWN IT.  My favorite store is Barnes and Noble.  OK back to the subject.  While packing the books I intended to keep a couple out. I was wiping them off and making piles of what would go and what would stay. Nothing was going. They really are going just out of site for a while, a little while, only while the kids are here. I had to keep telling myself that. So I packed up 4 big boxes of books to go into the Unit.  Can you tell I am having a little issue.  It is crazy.  Get over it!!
The job of lifting and packing the boxes with the books proved to be to much for me physically, so my daughter finished it for me.  Job done.  By the way I do have a small pile for the DI.

I also found 2 matching counter chairs to the ones I already have for $10.00 each. So the kids can sit at the counter and eat or do home work.  That was a fun thing.  We have a local TV station here that has a sight like Craigs List.  It is very organized so you can find almost anything you want or need.  I love to look at it, daily.  We also found a Toddler Bed in White for our Princess to sleep in when she gets here for $ 15.00 right here in our little area.  I have traveled from one end of Utah to the next for Furniture.
It had to be exceptional and of course it was. All of it.
Till next time...................

Moving

It is official!!! Our daughter in law and 4 grandchildren are comming to live with us while our son is away on assignment with his job.  I am excited about it. She has appoligised every time we talk.
History:  Daughter in law:  type one diabetic since she was 5. She won't admit it but she is brittle. She and the children (ages 9, 7, 5, and the Princess  she is 2) Can not stay with no family in a state is 10 hr one way and 24 the other to family.  in the town they live in outside of Dallas the Paramedics are on a first name basis with my son and daughter in law. She has low blood sugar when she becomes stressed or just life can cause her to break.  My son, and I agree with  him, that she can not stay there alone.  We offered so did her family.  Our house is bigger and there is myself, husband, daughter, my two sisters, and cousins that are available.  NOT IN THE SAME HOUSE OF COURSE.
I have prayed that they get to live near us for years.  The Lord has his own time.
We get along very well she is very creative, sewing, cooking, re doing furniture, painting. I tease her and tell her she is very Molly as in "Molly Mormon". She is a convert  and a good one.  My husband says our son married his mother.  Is that a good thing???

So back to the blog. Today they delivered  a Unit to our driveway. Because I have to store my furniture from the formal living room. Not because we are a fraid that the kids will mess it up, because we need the room.  Its my favorite room. Every thing in there is 2nd hand or family related. It all has a great deal of meaning to us. ut its just stuff. We are storing it because we are going to move the sewing room in there so that we can sew. It is so much fun to have her here to work on projects together   LOVE IT.
Yhe boys will share the bedroom that was the sewing room Its a big room.  The other bedroom is smaller but big enough for the girls. There is our bedroom and our daughters room. Everyone has a room  Yeah!!!!!   I can't wait to have them here it will be an adventure.  They usually come for a month in the summer. So we can do this for 8 months.  We are flying down on the 20th of this month.  My husband and son are putting all of there things in storage in Texas.  My son will be off where he needs to go my husband and daughter in law and the boys will drive to Utah and the princes and I will fly home to Utah.  Sounds like a good plan. Hope we can pull it off.  Please pray.
We were betting on how many of our neighbors would stop by to ask if we are moving.  Well, sort of.
I'll let you know.

Sarah, we love you we would do anything for you and Adam and the kids.

Last week we had a Laneyism.  Today a Tobiisim : Daddy:" You know you shouldn't do that"   T: Yeah.
Daddy:" Will I have to remind you?"  T:" Yes you will".  Daddy: " Do I have to have PaPa call Santa and tell him about this"?  T: Well, yes (sobbing) how did Pa Pa get his phone number"?.  Daddy just hugged him.

Plums and Apricots

My Husband has been so busy making jelly.  We cooked down  the fruit last year and froze it.  So he thawed it on Friday and New Years Day he cooked it and added all the stuff  needed to make it jell. He used Splenda to sweeten it. He made 36 pints of Apricot and 21 of Red Plum. My favorite.  All though I have so much trouble with the acid in fruit because of the Fibromyalgia. My mouth is very sensitive and gets blistered. ts not very comfortable. I have to eat very little at a time. Other people will enjoy it. Very tasty. Yumm

A child shall lead them

My kids are packing for a move.  So I get a text today that says  "Laney saw a picture of Jesus  holding a lamb and thought It was Pa Pa.  We had to read it several times and couldn't figure out why she would think that.  Pa Pa dose not have long hair, he does not wear a white robe, he has a mustache and a gotee ?
We don't know what it could be he is build like a German butcher. Not the King of Kings.
The next text we get is" Pa Pa has some pretty big sandels to fill. " I guess we will see what happens when we see Laney.  She's 2 you know.

Happy New Year!!!!!

It has been a great December.  The windows of Heaven were opened and the Blessings fell from above.
News we had been waiting for for 2 years came.  Not only here in Utah but in Texas too.  The Lord has his own time and I hope that we weathered the test well.  Thank You to Our Heavenly Father. Christmas is over, Hooray! not my favorite holiday.  The New Year is here. We can finally look back and see that we made headway.  2011 will be a great year too.
In a few weeks our beautiful daughter-in-law will be here with the most fabulous grand children. They will be staying here with us for 6-8 months while are son goes back to the Academy for Training. It will be great to have them and she is so creative she will inspire me to do more projects. Yeah! Use up this ton of paint and fabric I have so we can buy more.  Great! AND THE BARN FULL OF FURNITURE! that needs to be painted and sold.
My sewing room is a mess.  My Husband went in to get tape, when he came out he said  " I have never in all our years see your sewing room such a mess". He is right, usually, well always it is neat and organized. I always know where everything is. So today, New Years Day I will get it back in order.
I will keep it that way too. With Help.  From above.  Determination.  And keeping the Fibro at bay.
Pray For Me Please I will need the inspiration to get er done. the after Pics will come.
